There are quite small locks designed for fastening the zips on luggage. Setting the code is a simple case of rotating the latch round with a downward push, setting the new code and then returning it to it’s locking position. There’s a “keyhole” on the bottom which the security staff can use to open the lock without having to cause any damage or reset the combination.

The locks are lightweight but strong enough to prevent any casual attempts at opening your case. They arrive in a retail style blister pack and there are two provided. Overall really nice.

Even As a keen traveller I have to admit I hadn’t heard of TSA approved padlocks. So I googled it! TSA is an abbreviation for Transportation Security Administration, that basically means that should your luggage be stopped and a search required your lock can be opened with a ‘master key’ without the need to damage your lock.
It seems that in the USA they may require access without your presence ,so having a TSA approved lock removes a whole host of problems!
The lock looks like any other combination padlock, it has a 4 digit combination that is set at 0000 as default, but can obviously be changed to any 4 digit number you want.
The padlock is really good quality and feels robust. The padlock is pretty slimline which is good for luggage, as sometimes if the padlock is too thick and heavy it’s difficult to affix to the bag.
These are a great idea if you’re travelling to the USA but if not they can be used like standard combination padlocks.
Combination locks are really convenient for the obvious reason that you don’t need key! This makes it really useful for children if they need a locker at school, or when you go to the gym.

They offer a medium level of deterrent to the opportunist thief in my opinion.
